Sustainability Policy.

01 Nov 23

Allied was conceived as a force for good in the world, and that is fundamental to how we run our business. At the core of that is a fundamental commitment to sustainability, both in environmental and socio-corporate terms.

Our People

We take a broad view of national security and view combating climate change as critical to our collective safety and prosperity. ‘Mission-Driven’ is baked into our core values.  Sustainability issues and how we address them are part of both our onboarding process and a focus of subsequent continuing professional development.

We need and seek cognitive diversity and inclusivity in our high performing team. Membership is not conditional on prior status or qualifications. We recruit on the basis of skills, mindset and aptitude.

Allied is the sum of the talents and choices of its people.

Environment

We view climate security as a critical and underpinning component of national security.  Innovative technical solutions promise to play a major role in tackling the drivers of the climate crisis. We wholeheartedly support the ‘Race to Zero’ mindset.

We back teams offering credible solutions to help address the underlying issues. It is both necessary for our collective security and we believe doing so will also contribute to our collective prosperity.

We are a small team with a limited footprint, but we consciously seek to minimise and where possible offset any residual adverse environmental impact our business operations might have.

This is how we currently do it:

  • Travel - our biggest footprint generator

    • We encourage the use of unpowered and public transport wherever possible.

    • Where public transport is not viable, we seek to lift share.

    • When hiring a vehicle, we always seek to select an electric vehicle, and if not, we offset the associated carbon footprint.

  • Waste reduction

    • Keep it digital - reduces physical waste

    • Recycle where you can’t reduce or re-use

    • Procure durable tools to avoid having to replace them often

    • Consciously look for the unpackaged or wholly recyclable packaging option and pay for it if required

●      Rewarding good behaviour

○      We consider environmental profile and impact when selecting suppliers, partners and projects.

We expect to adopt additional measures as we grow.

Community

We seek to role model the behaviours we would wish to see our partners, community and competitors adopt. We do not pursue short term gain at the expense of either public or private long-term interest - we do what we believe is right, even when it is not the easy option.

Governance

We seek to sustainably serve a public purpose.  Lawfulness and appropriate behaviour are critical to maintaining the trustworthiness that necessarily underpins and defines our value.
